Jack and Kim Emmons, owners of the John L. Scott Real Estate affiliate office in Maple Valley for the past 15 years will be merging the office with the company-owned Kent-Covington office according to a release from the real estate company.

The move allows Kim Emmons to focus more on Foster Champs, a nonprofit organization she co-founded three years ago to support local foster families.

The couple will continue their real estate careers with John L. Scott at the Kent-Covington location.

“I started my career with John L. Scott back in 1995,” Kim Emmons said. “ John L. Scott has always been the right home for me because of our visionary leader, Lennox Scott, and his commitment to understanding the needs of our clients by offering quality service, technology, and innovation.”

Kim Emmons started Foster Champs of Maple Valley three years ago when the couple welcomed their foster child, Eryn, into their home. They realized there was a deficit of support and access to resources for both foster families and foster children. After forming Foster Champs, the needs and support started rolling in. They currently serve more than 30 foster families by providing funding for special events such as sports and other extra curricular activities, fundraising for school supplies and clothing, sponsors the Annual Foster Champs Free sale of more than 10,000 community donated items.

Foster Champs has grown to the point that Kim Emmons is poised to open up a new branch for advocacy of foster kids, with the main focus on getting kids out of state care and into families within their first year of foster care.
