Observant neighbor may have saved home from fire Thursday afternoon | Kent Regional Fire Authority

No one was home when the first started, but a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the eaves of the single story house located northeast of Kentwood High.

Firefighters cut holes in the ceiling and the room of a home located in the 25300 block of 173rd Avenue Southeast near Covington Thursday afternoon to put out a fire that appeared to have started in the attic.

According to information provided by Kent Regional Fire Authority spokesman Capt. Kyle Ohashi, no one was home when the first started, but a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the eaves of the single story house located northeast of Kentwood High.

Personnel from Kent Fire, which serves Covington and surrounding unincorporated areas, as well as Maple Valley Fire responded to the scene.There were no injuries reported. The fire, which was put out in less than 10 minutes, is still under investigation.
