Maple Valley seeks Library Advisory Board Volunteer youth-at-large

Maple Valley is seeking a youth-at-large member to serve on the Library Board.

The youth-at-large member is a junior high or high school student and a resident of the city.

The youth-at-large position serves for a one-year term, renewable upon request by the member for an additional one-year term. The term shall commence January 2012 through January 2013.

The Library Advisory Board serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council and coordinates with the Board of Trustees of the King County Library System.

Board activities include making recommendations for library services and proposed facilities, attending and providing input during the King County Library System annual budget hearings, and preparing and presenting an annual report of library operations to the City Council.

The Board meets bimonthly on the first Thursday of the month, at 7 p.m., with the first meeting of each year taking place in February.

Appointment to the Board shall be made by the Mayor, with confirmation by the City Council.
