February 4, 2013 · 5:15 PM

Winners of the Lake Wilderness Arboretum's art contest are Tamsyn Lewis for "Children's path topiaries," in the pre–2 category, Hannah Levine for "It's our arboretum," in grades 3–5, and Caitlin Hughes for "My secret garden,' in the 6–8 grade category. The winners will receive $50 of prizes and their work will be featured in a poster to be used by the arboretum throughout 2013.

A ceremony will be held Feb. 5 to award the prizes and give out certificates to everyone who participated in the contest. The ceremony will be held at  6:30 p.m. at the Maple Valley library.

The contest was established to give students a chance to get creative and to raise awareness of the treasure that is the Lake Wilderness Arboretum.

The Maple Valley library will be displaying a number of the submissions starting on Feb. 1.

Honorable mentions were Sami Miller, Victor Wang, Lauren Williams, Issabella Dedomenico and Cora (Cami) Alice Fairbanks.

Over 80 pieces were submitted to the Lake Wilderness Arboretum's art contest.
