Newly retired school workers feted

Thirty-one Kent School District who are retiring this month were honored at a recent School Board meeting.

They include three from Kentlake High School – Betty Carlson (kitchen coordinator), Kathleen Cowan (special-education paraeducator) and Sara Fischer (career and technical-education daycare director).

Also retiring are Mark Haddock (assistant superintendent), Dave Hildebrand (lead mechanic), Doneen Jasman and Debbie Stone (Carriage Crest Elementary teachers), Sandra Jondal (Mattson Middle School administrative assistant), Jan Noller (Kentwood High School registrar), and Janice Tornow (director of special education), and Janet Rabenstein, Martha Lattin and Sally Smith (bus drivers).

New retirees also include Margaret Geffrey, Glenridge Elementary School; Eileen Hewson, East Hill Elementary School teacher; Jean Ann Hollar, Fairwood Elementary School teacher; Keith Hunter, Meridian Elementary School teacher;, Karen Kalberg, Kentridge High School teacher; Joy Lauderbaugh, Horizon Elementary School general music specialist; Marilyn Maclsaac, East Hill Elementary School teacher; Jan Martin, Neely-O’Brien Elementary School library instructional assistant; Irma Miller and Mary Murphy-Johnson, Ridgewood Elementary School teachers; Jan Noller, Kentwood High School registrar; Marilyn Norsby, accounting manager; Esther Onishi, Meridian Elementary School teacher; Kathleen Ossenkop, Daniel Elementary School nurse; Lynn Randolph, food and nutrition services administrative assistant; Debbie Stone, Carriage Crest Elementary School teacher; Thomas Strom, Millennium Elementary School teacher; Daniel Underhill, Sunrise Elementary School educational assistant; Clifford Wade, Kent-Meridian High School teacher; and Taletta Wibmer, Glenridge Elementary School teacher.
