Maple Valley pioneer celebrates her 90th birthday this Saturday

Ione Herrin, a longtime resident of the Shadow Lake area and a pioneer of Maple Valley, will celebrate her 90th birthday during a reception in her honor Sept. 13, her family announced.
The community event is planned for 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Greater Maple Valley Community Center. It will be hosted by her children.
Herrin was the head chef for the lunch program for Tahoma School District for 30 years until she retired.
She graduated from Tahoma High School in 1937.
