Rainier Youth Choirs singers selected for honors

Rainier Youth Choirs announced the selection of several of its members for prestigious honors. These singers will participate in four different honor choirs at the biennial conference of the Northwest Division of American Choral Directors’ Association in Seattle,

March 10-13.

Singers are chosen through competitive auditions from among hundreds of applicants in six states.

Devon Wilson, Alto II, and Ryan Callahan, Tenor I, are both seniors in Kentwood High School’s choral program with director Daisy Li Emans. Wilson will participate in the High School Women’s Honor Choir to be conducted by Sandra Peter of Luther College, Decorah, Iowa.

The association’s Children’s Honor Choir, directed by Ken Berg of the Birmingham Boys Choir, will include treble singer Duane Davis,

a fifth grader at

Maple Valley

Christian School.

These honor choirs, each with 75-150 singers, will rehearse for three days and present a final concert on March 13 at Benaroya Hall or Seattle’s First

Presbyterian Church.
