Piano recital and contest tomorrow

The city of Covington’s third annual piano competition and recital – open to pianists 10 through 18 years old – is scheduled for tomorrow at St. John the Baptist Church.
Oct. 28 is the registration deadline. Forms are available at City Hall and on the city’s Web site at www.ci.covington.wa.us. Additional information is available from Covington Arts Commission member Deanna Dent at (253) 639-0181 and buforana@comcast.net.
In the competition, which is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., contestants can play at least one original piano piece by any classical composer from any of the standard musical periods. The music must be of an intermediate level or above.
Nine winners – one in each age group – will be selected to perform in a recital at 7:30 p.m. at the church, which is at 25810 156th SE.
