Support Fletcher Barkdull for TSD Board | Letter to the Editor

As a parent to five children attending Tahoma schools, I have an additional personal interest in the matters that affect the students in our district. It is based on this perspective that I believe Fletcher Barkdull stands apart as the right candidate for the Tahoma School Board.

I have known Fletcher Barkdull going on five years and have had the opportunity to work with him on a variety of projects, some including service and community celebrations here in Maple Valley. He has the leadership experience and temperament that will enable him to approach decisions in a fair, intelligent and well-informed manor. His opponent has cited her experience on the recent bond oversight committee as her main qualification, but I believe now is the time for a fresh new perspective to solve the challenges of our growing community. Fletcher Barkdull is very personally invested in the community and school district, as he has six children of his own that will be attending our schools. This kind of personal interest uniquely qualifies him for the job. He literally has the most “skin in the game”. Most aren’t aware that within two years none of the school board; or his opponent, will have children in the Tahoma School District. Having children in the schools provides the necessary student perspective to make well informed decisions and added incentive to fix things right and in a timely manner. In addition, Fletcher Barkdull has provided much needed insights and recommendations from his legal background, as an attorney, in our many dealings and interactions. With these and many more qualities, I support Fletcher Barkdull as the right candidate for the Tahoma School Boards.
