Thank you to maintenance staff

Thank you for the excellent job with snow removal and de-icing our roadways during the snow storm

On behalf of Maple Valley City Council, I extend our appreciation to the City’s Public Works and Parks Maintenance Staff for the excellent job they did with snow removal and de-icing our roadways during the snow storm a few weeks ago. The staff of 7 worked approximately 300 man hours on rotating shifts laying de-icer and plowing snow.

Sometimes I believe we as citizens take for granted that during inclement weather the City’s main thoroughfares and designated snow routes will be clear and as safe as possible for us to drive on without regard to how that happens. The City of Maple Valley has a relatively small Maintenance team of 7 very dedicated and hard-working employees. They work rotating shifts throughout the day and night as required, often when we are warm and cozy in our homes or sleeping soundly. A fact I find refreshing is that they complete these responsibilities with a smile on their faces and commitment in their hearts. If you ask them about working throughout the days, nights and weekends, they will say

“It’s just part of the job” with no expectations for recognition. Please join us in thanking the City’s Maintenance Staff for all they do to assure our streets, surface water facilities, parks and other City-owned infrastructure are maintained and safe.

Sincerely,

Mayor Sean P. Kelly
