This week’s news and notes feature a correction as well as a number of different fundraising events happening around town.

Wrestling dinner auction Nov. 19

The Tahoma wresting team is hosting a dinner auction from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 at Tahoma Junior High School.

All proceeds will support Tahoma wrestling.

Tickets are $20 per person. And children 10 years or younger are $10.

Free firewood

The Alliance Bible Church in Covington is offering free firewood to elderly and disabled people with a financial need.

The firewood is offered to those living in Covington, Maple Valley, Black Diamond or Hobart.

Free delivery is also available.

Annual Veterans dinner Nov. 11

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is hosting its 18th annual Veterans Dinner.

All veterans and their spouses are invited.

The dinner is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at the church, located at 26800 236th Place SE in Maple Valley.

Community Thanksgiving dinner

The Black Diamond/Maple Valley Kiwanis and the Black Diamond Elementary PTA are hosting the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, Nov. 20.

The dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Black Diamond Community Center. This event is free and open to the public.

The dinner will include turkey, stuffing, potatoes, vegetables, desserts and more.

Fundraiser Nov. 9 at Maple Valley Bar & Grill

The Black Diamond Artists Association will also include crafts for kids. The Bar & Grill will donated 20 percent of sales from 5 to 10 p.m. Nov. 9 to the Greater Maple Valley Veterans Memorial Fund.

The goal is to break ground in fall of 2017 on the memorial, it is planned for the corner of SE 248th and Witte Road.

Time to fall back an hour

Daylight saving time ends Sunday, Nov. 6. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back an hour before going to bed Saturday.

Election 2016

The deadline to mail your ballots in for the general election is Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Aside from a new layout, additional features have been added so we can better share stories and photos with our readers.
