Kent Cornucopia Days to feature street fair, parade, fun run

47th annual festival July 13-15

A street fair, parade, 5K fun run/walk and dragon boat races are part of the 47th annual Kent Cornucopia Days this weekend.

The free festival begins Friday, July 13, and continues Saturday and Sunday, July 14-15. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Numerous downtown streets are closed for the street fair that features more than 300 vendors from across the region, everything from handmade jewelry to homemade sauces. Two food courts, a beer garden and two entertainment stages are part of the street fair.

The Cornucopia Days Fun Run and Walk starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at the Three Friends Fishing Hole park and winds along the Green River Trail.

Art Oberto will serve as grand marshal of the Grand Parade, which starts at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, along Fourth Avenue. Oberto took over the family sausage business when he was 16 and served as director emeritus on the Oberto Board of Directors until the company was sold in the spring.

The dragon boat races start at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Lake Meridian. The finals are scheduled to start just after 3 p.m. Racing teams come from Canada, Oregon and Washington.
