Tahoma High School’s Robotics team advances to World Championship April 19-22

Bear Metal advances to World Championship

Tahoma High School’s robotics club will compete in the FIRST Robotics Championship April 19-22 in Houston, Texas.

The team advanced to the championship after winning the Pacific Northwest District Championship on April 7 at Eastern Washington University.

The championship will feature 400 teams from around the world and will consist of eight competition fields.

GiveBIG event impacts Maple Valley

Seattle Foundation’s annual GiveBIG event on May 10 will benefit more than 1,600 nonprofits including some in Maple Valley.

Those include Puget Sound Goat Rescue and Adoption, Maple Valley Food Bank and Emergency Services, South County Cats, Vine Maple Place and Sunyata Association, according to a media release.

To donate visit GiveBIGSeattle.org and select the nonprofits you would like to support.

Beginning April 27, donations can be scheduled ahead of the May 10 date.

Tahoma student serves as Senate page

Tahoma sophomore Emma Pamello, 16, served as a Washington state Senate Page.

Sen. Mark Mullet, D-Issaquah, sponsored her during her week.
