A quartet of women learned how to spin alpaca yarn on July 30 at Alpacas at Morning Star Ranch in Ravensdale.

Kathy Batzelle, who owns the ranch with her husband Larry, first learned to spin yarn three years ago. She's also learned how to dye and felt yarn with the goal to make a variety of items with the resulting product.

Now she's passing on her skills to others who are interested. Students find her through word of mouth on Facebook.
