Students in the Play and Learn class based out of the Greater Maple Valley Community Center toured Maple Valley Fire Station 80 last week. The youngsters are pre-school age and their parents, grandparents or caregivers attend the twice weekly program. Brandy Rowland, who has two boys of her own, teaches the class. Fire fighter Drew Erickson led the tour and did a demonstration with his bunker gear to help the children learn firefighters are friendly people.

This way if there's a fire the kids will know not to hide from a firefighter if they see one in their house.
