Victoria Throm, the founder of the Covington Domestic Violence Task Force, presented the Purple Lights Nights 2011 tree lighting event Saturday in Covington.

The program included live music by the band Train Wreck, dramatic scenes by the Kentwood High Players, a reading of a poem by Paulette Kelly, "I got Flowers Today" by Martina McBride and a survivor's story by Melanie Hope from Kent.

Following the program the the lights on the tree were lighted.
