I-5 Express Lanes to close early Monday night | WSDOT

The Washington State Department of Transportation will close the I-5 Express Lanes two hours early Monday night, as a Sound Transit boring machine crosses beneath I-5 near Pike Street one last time.

The reversible I-5 Express Lanes will close at 9 p.m. Monday, April 23, and reopen southbound by 5 a.m. Tuesday. The express lanes normally close at 11 p.m. and reopen at 5 a.m. weekdays.

Sound Transit is nearing the end of tunnel boring between Capitol Hill and downtown for its University Link light rail extension.
