The Soup Ladies take delivery of donated surplus truck from King County Councilman Reagan Dunn | Slideshow

Ginger Passarelli, founder of The Soup Ladies, flanked by a number of volunteers from the non-profit organization, received the keys and the title of a surplus truck donated by King County Monday morning.

County Councilman Reagan Dunn personally handed over the keys and title to Passarelli in the parking lot of her restaurant, Mama's, in Black Diamond.

The Soup Ladies have been feeding first responders at all manner of emergencies for more than seven years, having traveled to help Hurricane Katrina victims, to southwestern Washington after flooding as well as southern California to feed firefighters during wild fires there, to name a few.

Pasarelli, affectionately known as Mama throughout the region, said the truck will help The Soup Ladies get to Snoqualmie Pass -- or anywhere else there's snow -- to help search and rescue crews. The 2008 quad-cab pick has four wheel drive, which will allow the group to expand its range further.

This is the second vehicle the county has donated to The Soup Ladies. In 2008, the county donated a tow vehicle after providing the group a grant to pay for a mobile kitchen.
