KCFD 43 board passes levy resolution at February 21st meeting

February 25, 2013 · Updated 3:28 PM

The Board of Fire Commissioners for Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety voted unanimously to pass a resolution placing a Maintenance and Operations levy on the April Special Election ballot. The three-year, temporary levy for the fire department would maintain emergencyservice levels.

The temporary levy would raise $1.5 million per year for three years, and cost the owner of a $300,000 home approximately $9.50 per month, or 38 cents per $1,000 of property value based on 2013 assessed valuations. This amount would be in addition to the fire levy that Fire District residents currently pay.

The fire department will spend the months leading up to the election educating the public about the levy and challenges facing the fire department. Chief Brad Doerflinger is available to speak to community organizations about this topic, and interested parties can contact him to schedule a presentation at chief@maplevalleyfire.org or call 425-432-0200.
