Tahoma High students named AP Scholars
Tahoma High Students have again set the bar high with 167 students earning the designation of AP Scholar this year, and 18 of those were also recognized as AP National Scholars.
This year represents a 48 percent increase over the number of students who were recognized last year.
AP Scholars are recognized for their achievements on the college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams administered by The College Board.
From the class of 2013 16 students were recognized as AP National Scholars, meaning that they earned an average grade of 4 or higher on a 5 point scale on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more exams. Those students are: Alissa Bates, Benjamin Fitter, Heidi Grether, Shanan Hopp, Rylee Jones, James Love, Dessa Meehan, Joseph Myers, Olivia Ranft, Angela Rocchi, Jacob Seely, Miranda Smith, Connor Taylor, Hannah Wheeler, William Wheeler, and Matthew Whittlesey
Two students from the class of 2014, Arthur Downer and Ashton Ohms, were also recognized as National Scholars.
Sixty-seven students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of 3.5 or higher on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more exams. The AP Scholars with Distinction who graduated in June 2013 are: Noah Adam, Alissa Bates, Karissa Bosshart, Victoria Bowers, Emily Burlison, Benjamin Fitter, Heidi Grether, Jackie Hickman, Shanan Hopp, Tyler Johnson, Rylee Jones, Dean Kayler, Timothy Lamb, Trenton Lawrence, James Love, Anna May, Erik McCormack, Kendra McSheridan, Dessa Meehan, Matthew Milburn, Joseph Myers, Trey Nakanishi, Dakota-Storm Nichols, Traci Parker, Amanda Peng, Sorina Pitts, Olivia Ranft, Dana Reid, Angela Rocchi, Niribili Sarmah, Travis Scacco, Jacob Seely, Madeline Smith, Miranda Smith, Carter Stoddard, Connor Taylor, Jennifer Taylor, Madalyn Turek, Kendall Von Michalofski, Colin Wallace, Hannah Wheeler, William Wheeler, Taylor White, Matthew Whittlesey, and Schuyler Wilhelm.

Twenty-eight students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more exams.
The AP Scholars with Honor who graduated in 2013 are: Joel Christensen, Maxwell Doll, Jonah Duncan, Jessica Glassner, Kailee Haong, Adam Kane, Anna Lindgren, Carly Overhauser, Rikki Poole, Sajan Sandhu, Margaret Stuefloten, Danielle Vandenberg, and Mollie Webb.
The AP Scholars with Honor who are currently seniors at Tahoma are: Hunter Cooper, Justin Farish, Sarah Faulk, Mackenzie Galloway, Mallory Kennaday, Ashton Kershner, Sarah Lewis, Brenan Lundquist, Alice Lundt, Ethan Mattson, Kevin Nolan, Michelle Perry, Megan Rohrbaugh, Jona Wagner, and Brian Wright.
Seventy-two students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams, with grades of 3 or higher.
