Cara Rudd, whose south King County-area ties include serving the Tahoma School District as a choreographer for student stage productions, finished as the third runnerup in the Miss Washington pageant last weekend.
Rudd, who qualified for the state pageant by winning the Miss Auburn title, is from Federal Way.
The Miss Washington crown was won by Janet Harding, who will represent the state in the Miss America competition next January in Las Vegas, Nev.
The two-day state pageant was staged at the Pantages Theater in Tacoma.
Harding, 21, is from Yelm and is a student at Western Washington University in Bellingham.
Rudd, 21, graduated from Green River Community College and Seattle Pacific University with a dual degree in marketing and communications. She hopes to some day run her own event planning and management firm.
