Local fire departments, the King County fire marshal and the state Department of Natural Resources ordered restrictions Thursday on outdoor burning in order to reduce the risk of wildfires in the current dry conditions.

The restrictions, which took effect at 8 a.m. Thursday in King, Pierce, Mason and Kitsap counties, apply to forest debris and silvicultural burning, land clearing and burning of yard debris on all private and state-owned forestland.

Campfires will be allowed no larger than three across, among other restrictions.

More information is available from the King County fire marshal at 1-800-323-BURN.
