CJ’s Bakery in Black Diamond will host a bake sale today to benefit the campaign of Mark Hargrove, who’s running in this fall’s election for state representative from the 47th District.

The event, at 30800 Third Ave. is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will include auctions of cakes and live entertainment.

Hargrove, a Republican, is seeking the district’s Position 1 in the House of Representatives. The district includes Black Diamond and Covington.

Hargrove, a Covington resident, is the lone Republican in the race. On the Democrats’ side, the incumbent, Geoff Simpson, is opposed by Leslie Hamada. Simpson and Hamada will meet in the primary election Aug. 19, with the winner facing Hargrove in the general election in November.
