King County Council meeting highlights | Apri 28-May 2

Monday, April 28

Metropolitan King County Council – 1:30 p.m.

--Councilmembers will hear public testimony during their monthly public comment period. Speakers will have two minutes to address Councilmembers on matters relating to county government.

Councilmembers are scheduled to discuss and possibly act on:

·       An ordinance authorizing the King County executive to enter into amendments to interlocal cooperation agreements with the cities of Auburn, Bellevue, Covington, Issaquah, Kent, Kirkland, Normandy Park, Redmond, Snoqualmie, Woodinville and Seattle for the disbursement of conservation futures tax levy funds (Ordinance 2014-0143).

·       A motion affirming King County's support for the Skykomish Valley Economic Development, Recreation, and Natural Resource Conservation Initiative and recognizing the shared vision of the town of Skykomish and the Stevens Pass Greenway to enhance economic development, increase recreation opportunities and conserve the natural resources in the Skykomish Valley (Motion 2014-0102).

·       A motion approving specifications for the provision of banking services, and authorizing the executive to seek bids for provision of those services (Motion 2014-0146).


Tuesday, April 29

Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee – 9:30 a.m.

Committee members are scheduled to discuss and possibly recommend to the full council:


·       A motion addressing income inequality with the establishment and implementation of a living wage policy for King County (Motion 2014-0058).



·       Transit Service Reduction Proposal (Briefing No. 2014-B0074).

Law, Justice and Health and Human Services Committee – 1:30 p.m.

Committee members are scheduled to discuss and possibly recommend to the full council:

·       A motion accepting the mental illness and drug dependency sixth annual report (Motion 2014-0149).

·       A motion requiring the executive to develop and submit for council review and approval a report on improving programs and services for incarcerated veterans in department of adult and juvenile detention jail facilities (Motion 2014-0159).




·       Overview of the Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention Line of Business Report (Briefing No. 2014-B0073).

·       An Overview of Reentry in King County (Briefing No. 2014-B0062).
