Washington’s new top-two system for primary elections, in which the two leading recipients of votes advance to the general election regardless of political party affiliation, will begin with next month’s 2008 primary. A news article in the July 19 edition (“Bake sale supports candidate for Legislature”) referred incorrectly to the prior system. More information about the change in primary elections is available from the King County elections department at www.metrokc.gov/elections and from the Washington secretary of state at www.secstate.wa.gov.
