Salmon hatchery near Landsburg discussed

A proposed Seattle Public Utilities sockeye salmon hatchery near Landsburg will be a subject for a meeting of the Cedar River Council next Tuesday.

The meeting, which is open to the public, is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Maplewood Greens Golf Course. The course is at 4050 Maple ValleyHwy.

A representative of Seattle Public Utilities will give a presentation about SPU’s proposed hatchery.

Also on the council’s agenda is a report from the King County Water and Land Resources Division on the current status of acquisitions of property to help protect salmon habitat.

The council is a collaboration of government, community groups and businesses that works on protecting the river’s environment.
