There’s a new editor holding the reins of the Maple Valley and Covington Reporter.
Dennis Box, an experienced journalist who most recently wrote for the Bonney Lake/Sumner Courier-Herald, assumed his editor’s duties Tuesday. His appointment was announced by Bill Marcum, Reporter publisher.
During his years with the Courier-Herald, Box covered government at the city, county and state level. He also kept tabs on a variety of high school sports and authored an award-winning column.
Adding Box to the Reporter lineup demonstrates a commitment to providing readers – who range from Covington and Maple Valley to Ravensdale and Black Diamond – with the type of local coverage they’ll receive nowhere else, Marcum said.
Starting immediately, readers will be seeing more news that hits close to home, he emphasized. Box also intends to pay closer attention to local high school athletes, particularly those suiting up for Tahoma, Kentlake and Kentwood High.
Also beginning work this week at the Reporter is advertising representative Risa Anderson. She comes to the Maple Valley and Covington newspaper from a similar position with the Kent Reporter.
The Reporter newspaper group is a part of Sound Publishing, the dominant provider of nondaily newspapers in western Washington.
