Winter weather returned to the area last night and this morning with snow and ice greeting morning drivers.

The Tahoma School District closed for the day and Kent school districts reported classes would begin two hours late.

Drivers found dangerous conditions in many areas with ice and snow on the roads.

Snow began falling Wednesday evening with icy conditions developing overnight on some highways.

According to a report from the National Weather Service, a couple of inches of snow fell during the night, but daytime temperatures would rise to 40 degrees. Rain is expected to return by Friday night and Saturday.
