Washington State Patrol detectives are seeking witnesses to a fatal collision that occurred southbound on state Route 167 at South 277th street in Auburn around 4:30 a.m.

Four vehicles were traveling in close proximity of each other when two of the vehicles collided resulting in a roll over collision that killed 19-year-old Matthew Johnson from Kent. Johnson was not wearing his seat belt when his 1998 Ford Explored was struck by a 1990 Mazda RX7. Johnson’s vehicle rolled and he was partially ejected from his vehicle. Johnson was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center a short time later. A Dodge Neon and a Nissan Sentra were also struck. The cause is under investigation.

The state patrol is asking anyone who witnessed these four vehicles prior to the collision to call Detective R. Haake at 425-401-7788.
