Candidates file for elected office

Many elected office positions are open and ready to be filled, and many already have attracted candidates.

As of the Tuesday press deadline, Maple Valley, Black Diamond and Covington all had City Council positions with candidates who filed. The deadline to file is today.

Covington has three positions that have candidates. Jennifer Harjenhausen filed for City Council Position No. 2. Incumbent Joseph T. Cimaomo, Jr. filed for City Council Position No. 4, Fran Hollums, also an incumbent, filed for City Council Position No. 6.

Three positions in Black Diamond also have candidates that filed for positions. Melissa C. Oglesbee signed up for City Council Position No. 2. Erin Rose Stout filed for City Council Position No. 4. Mayor Carol Benson filed for the mayor position for another term.

Maple Valley also has three positions with candidates filing like Black Diamond and Covington. One position has two candidates. City Council Position No. 4 has incumbent Erin M. Weaver and William Prince as candidates. Matt Jezorek filed for City Council Position No. 2. Position No. 6 is the last position that has a candidate, incumbent Dana C. Parnello.

The Kent School District 415 and Tahoma School District 409 both have director district positions with candidates.

There weren’t any candidates for the Kent School District Director District No. 4 yet. There was one candidate for the Kent School district director No. 5, incumbent Maya Vengadasalam. As for the Tahoma School District, incumbent Tami Henkel is the candidate for the director district No. 1 position. Valerie Paganelli filed for the director district No. 5 position.

Friday is the deadline to file for office.
