Construction company helps people in need, for free

Ryan Construction Company helps people in need during their slow time, all for free, including materials

Jaylyn Marsland found herself in a small predicament. The fence in her backyard was in bad shape but ever since she hurt her back, she wasn’t able to fix it. She’s also not one to ask for help, her pride tends to get in the way.

Up until Feb. 13, Marsland had to live with a worn-down fence. Thanks to the generosity of the people that attend her church, Lake Sawyer Christian Church, her fence was able to be fixed.

There is a program called the James Brigade Ministry at the church where people get together to help others who own a home that are not able to physically do things on their own, Marsland said. Ryan Construction reached out to the church and offered their services, for free, including the materials to help out people in need of work.

“It was such a blessing to have this done; you don’t find that very often,” Marland said. “I am so lucky to be part of a wonderful, wonderful ministry and to have a company that offers their help.”

Marland has also been unemployed for some time and is limited in her abilities to work. When she got a call that Ryan Construction was going to fix her fence, she was ecstatic. It was such a big help to have something like this done, and for free, Marsland said.

Ryan Construction is a Seattle based company that reaches out during their slow time to see if they can help anyone in need, Marsland said. In the last few months they helped an elderly, disabled gentleman whose floor in his trailer was falling apart. They also rebuilt a deck and a wheelchair ramp for a woman and her adult daughter with special needs. This is the second year they have reached out to the ministry, through Bryan Systsma who is the liaison between the church and Ryan Construction. Sytsma is also the director of the James Brigade Ministry and he helps out anyone in need of help.

Through Ryan’s Construction company and the James Brigade ministry, people of the community in need have been able to get the help they need.
