The City of Maple Valley will again be hosting the annual homemade Fruit Pie Baking Contest on Monday, July 4, as a part of the Independence Day Family Picnic. We encourage all ages to participate.

Pies must be fruit, homemade and all entries must be baked at home, from scratch, without using pre-mixes, canned fillings, commercial mixes, puddings, etc.

In anticipation of many contestants wanting to participate we must limit the number of pies entered in each of the three divisions to eight. For this reason we are requiring all contestants to pre-enter with application form by July 3 at 5 p.m. Application forms can be found and submitted at www.maplevalleywa.gov

Pies must be presented with a recipe card between 4-6 p.m. to the Pie Baking Booth located at the Beach House at Lake Wilderness Park. No refrigerator will be available. The judging will begin at 6 p.m. The winners will be announced at about 7 p.m. in the evening at the music stage.

Prizes will be awarded in each age division first place prize is a $75 Gift Certificate to Safeway, second place is a $25 Gift Card from Chocolates, Cherries and Blondes and third Place $15 gift card.

There will be three age categories to enter:

Youth (17 and Under)

Adult (18-49)

Senior (50 and Over)
