Kent School District hosts sign-up event for Section 8 housing wait list

The Kent School District and the King County Housing Authority (KCHA) will host a community sign-up event for placement on the Section 8 Rental Assistance waiting list from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Kent Phoenix Academy, 11000 SE 264th St.

Applicants must meet all the following qualifications to be eligible:

• Head of household must be over 18-years-old.

• Household must contain at least one member who is either disabled, 62 years old or under 18 years old.

• Household must be low-income – making less than 30 percent of the area median income, homeless, living in substandard housing or be paying more than 50 percent of income for rent and utilities.

• Household cannot currently be living in government-subsidized housing.

Families who would like assistance completing the online application are invited to this event. Arabic, Punjabi, Somali, Spanish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese interpreters will be available to assist. KCHA’s Section 8 voucher program will accept applications through 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 18. The free application process is only available online through the KCHA website.
