Kent’s Reeder appointed to Soos Creek Water & Sewer District board

Kent resident Merle Reeder has been appointed to be a commissioner on the five-member Soos Creek Water & Sewer District board.

The board appointed Reeder to replace Larry West, who died at age 85 in March after three years as a commissioner. Reeder will serve through Dec. 31 as well as run for election in November to fill out the remainder of the West’s two-year term that ends in January 2020.

The district serves southeast King County residents, including portions of Kent, Renton and Covington.

Reeder is a salesman for Northwest Roof Service in Kent. He previously owned Reeder Brothers Construction. He also holds a real estate broker’s license, so he can assist his wife Marti Reeder, a managing broker with John L. Scott.

“As a business owner, superintendent, builder and developer, I’ve been exposed to many different facets of running a business which will be helpful in tackling operational concerns, rates and other issues that I will face as a commissioner at the Soos Creek Water and Sewer District,” Reeder said in a media release. “I support the district’s mission of providing reliable, high quality water and sewer services to southeast King County in an efficient and cost effective manner, and I’m ready to do my part.”

The other commissioners are Steve Pfaff, Gary G. Cline, Darold Stroud and Alice R. Marshall.
