Local businesses scrub-a-dub graffiti from Maple Valley

CAF Outdoor Cleaning founded a program in Maple Valley to clean graffiti from the both public and private property. The program is called Clean Maple Valley Program.

The company, which is based in Maple Valley, responds to complaints about graffiti by sending a response team to clean the affected area or provide graffiti cleanup kits for the public. The graffiti cleaning product used is called Vivx. According to the CAF website the response teams are volunteers and the supplies are donated. The CAF website also states the company will provide a coupon for free paint from a local paint store.

Emily Milam, a member of CAF, said the great thing is the entire program is free to the public.

Milam said people were noticing graffiti around town, “So we created a task force that sponsors this program.”

According to Milam, if someone from the Maple Valley area sees graffiti that needs to be removed all they have to do is contact CAF by phone, 425-433-8277, or by filling out an electronic form at the website, www.mycaf.com/blog/company/graffiti-removal/.

Milam said the program is a joint effort that includes everyone within CAF, Johnsons Home and Garden and the city of Maple Valley.

Maple Valley City Manager Laura Philpot said CAF came to the city and asked if they could partner with them.

“I think it’s really great to get a local business to partner with our city,” she said. “They really care and give back.”

The majority of the funding for the project has come from CAF along with donations and support from Johnsons Home and Garden.

Milam said one of the problems has been getting enough people to contact them about their graffiti problems. One of the goals make the company known to the public and to make sure residents know it is free for them to use.

“Since Maple Valley is our home, and clean is what we do, CAF is very committed to helping out and cleaning up our community,” Rachel Doubles said, a CAF staff member . “Most of our employees live locally, so to be able to not only help out our neighbors, but ourselves, means a lot to us.”
