Maple Valley recruiting for commissioner positions and more community news

Calling all local artists

The city of Covington and the Covington Arts Commission is looking for artists to create a design for a new storage unit for the Covington Community Park.

The project will use the public art to enhance the visual landscape at the park, a media release stated.

The storage unit will be placed at the park in May.

The chosen designs will be fabricated on vinyl and wrapped over the unit — which is 10 feet wide by 25 feet long by 8 feet, 6 inches tall.

All submitted work must be an original design and reflect the theme of “water, air, earth,” the release stated.

The deadline for submissions is 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 13. Email your submissions to Pat Patterson at ppatterson@covingtonwa.gov.

Submissions must include:

• Your name, contact information;

• One page statement of interest addressing the concept, design and how you approached the project;

• One page resume;

• Annotated list of images

• Submissions of a maximum of five designs for consideration.

Selection committee will review submission on March 20 and selected artist will be contacted March 28.
