Kent School District held its first of two meetings to discuss the district’s strategic plan

Kent School District presents new plan

On Thursday, the Kent School District held its first of two meetings to discuss the district’s strategic plan called “Blueprint: Leaning Forward Together 2016-2021.”

The public is invited to the second presentation scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8.

The presentation is given by Superintendent Calvin Watts and Chief Accountability Officer Jewelle Harmon.

The public will learn the district’s plan “to produce graduates who are globally competitive learners through equitable access to high quality academic, social and applied learning,” according to a media release.

The presentation will take place at the district’s administration office at 12033 256th Street SE in Kent.

Gardening events coming soon

The Master Gardeners of King County is sponsoring local Master Gardener Plant Clinics.

The Covington clinic happens on the second Saturday of every month starting in April and runs through September.

The clinic takes place at the Covington Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Master Gardeners will be available to answer gardening questions, discuss plant selections, diagnose plant problems and help identify plants or insects.

The Lake Wilderness Arboretum’s plant sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, April 29 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30.
