Library guild fall sale

From Oct. 25 through Oct. 29 the Maple Valley Library Guild will hold its fall book and media sale.

Donated books, CDs and DVDs are sold for $1 or less.

The non-profit library guild funds many programs at the Maple Valley library, according to a release, including summer reading programs, story hours and speakers for teens and adults.

A members only presale will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25. The sale will then run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 in the meeting room at the Maple Valley Library.

A bag sale will be offered Oct. 29 where you will be able to fill a plastic grocery bag with items for $5.

There will also be a raffle with the winner being selected on Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. The winner will win a quilt made by a guild member.

Chili cook off Oct. 29

Community members are welcome to attend the Trunk-or-Treat fall festival and chili cook-off at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Maple Valley.

The event begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29. The chili competition and tasting will be at 5 p.m.

Save the date for Hometown Holidays in Maple Valley

The third annual Hometown Holidays event is coming back to Four Corners.

The official tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by many other activities throughout the area.

Tahoma’s Chamber Choir, the Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Lake Wilderness Elementary Choir, crafts, hot chocolate, cookies and other festive activities will be there for the public to enjoy.

Unwrapped toys or canned foods are welcome and will go to help support the Maple Valley Food Bank.
