UPDATE | Sheriff’s Office responds to reports of a shooting in Covington

Deputies have arrested the shooter after he sought care for an injury

This story has been updated at 4:25 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8 with new information from Sgt. West.

King County Sheriff’s deputies were called around 4:40 p.m. Thursday evening regarding reports of two men fighting in the 17100 block of Southeast 276th Street in Covington.

Deputies later received reports that shots had been fired.

One of the men fighting was shot by the other, Sgt. Cindi West, media relations for the Sheriff’s Office said.

West said the two men do know each other.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. An update on his condition was still not known as of Friday afternoon, West said.

She added, she does believe he is expected to survive.

The suspect fled on foot and had not been located by deputies, West said. She added he has now been arrested after he arrived at Valley Medical Center with a minor gunshot wound.

West believes he may have shot himself in the thigh when he pulled out his gun.
