Evelyn Mae Claybourn

Evelyn Mae Claybourn, 94 years old, peacefully passed away and went to be with our Lord on the morning of March 25, 2014 at her home in Fountain Court, Maple Valley, WA.

Born in Dekalb, Illinois on December 6, 1919 to George and Anne Cooper, she spent her first 42 years in Illinois. She graduated from high school there, and later married Charles Fayette Thompson. While raising 5 children she was involved in restaurant work with her husband. Evelyn, or Evie as her friends called her, lost her husband in 1958. She later married Harley Joe Claybourn and moved to Washington where they lived in Kent and Cle Elum. She stayed in CleElum for many years after losing Joe. Evelyn was one of the Tucson snowbirds for many winters. She was an avid reader, and spent much of her time in the sun reading or enjoying the company of friends in Arizona. Her later years were spent in Maple Valley where she made many friends and joined the Cornerstone Methodist Church.

Besides her 2 husbands, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Connie in 2011. She is survived by 3 sons, Joel, Dale, and Gene Thompson, and 1 daughter, Julie Oyster. Evelyn was blessed with 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Evelyn will be remembered as the loving, caring matriarch of her family, as well as a dedicated friend to many. She will be very missed by us all.

Evelyn will be memorialized in a Celebration of Life service at her church, Cornerstone Methodist, at 1P.M. on March 29th with a reception following the service. The church is located at 20730 S.E. 272nd (Kent-Kangley Rd.), in Covington, Washington.
