Great Support Keeps the Black Diamond Community Center Going Strong | Thank You

The Black Diamond Community Center’s 25th annual fundraising dinner auction, held Oct. 1, was a huge success. We made $8,500 more than last year. All money made from this event stays in our community to help seniors and families who need assistance. We provide food, gas vouchers, dairy cards, rental assistance, clothing, emergency vehicle repairs, housing repairs and help with prescriptions drugs.

Our sponsors were very generous this year. Thank you to Mary Kay (Karin Ambur), Mutual of Enumclaw Insurance Company, Goodfellow Bros. Inc., Black Diamond Bakery & Deli, Oakpointe, Black Diamond Recycling & Transfer (Dave Ambur) and TRM Wood Products. Johnny Morris was our auctioneer, and he donated time, money, and had some of his employees attend. Johnny is great. This year we had Rotary, Lions, and Kiwanis represented at three full tables. Thank you to all of you who support our programs all year round. Our Board of Directors does so much work before our big night. Thank you to Keith Watson, Jude Irish, Elsie Parkin, Becky Olness, Dave Ambur, Joe Androsko, Tamie Deady, Kari Hammett-Caster, Tina McGann, Marsha Tetzlaff and Judy Watson.

Our cooks Jude Irish (board member) and Dan Spino cooked up a special prime rib dinner everyone enjoyed. Kitchen crew members Ron Brentson, Vern Gibson, Barbara Besagno, Brenda Hanson, Angel Goral, Janet Rowe and Laurel Chapter No. 47, along with Marion Mingura, kept things moving all evening. Cashiers Laura Howe, Kristin Hodgson, Sherry Thomas, and Sandy O’Hagan helped make the close-out run efficiently. Bartenders Karen and Glenn Parker always add fun and charm to our events. Silent Auction closers Setheni Kirschnick, Matt Copple, Shawn and Melissa Oglesbee did a great job wrapping up bids. Extra help with décor were Leih Mulvihill and Mira Hoke. Staff works very hard year round to make this event a success: Leslie Johnson, Helen Bittner, Irene Vaughn, and Kym Sulman. They are the best workers around.

Live Auction items were donated by Patricia Moss, Janie Edelman, Leih Mulvihill, Tamie Deady, Smokehouse & More, Black Diamond Pizza & Deli, Dorothy & Howard Botts, Ginger “Mama” Passarelli, Colt & Marsha Tetzlaff, Black Diamond Antique Store, Lisa Downey, Maureen O’Brien, Black Bear Outpost, Lind’s Meats, Jude Irish, and Elsie Parkin.
