Woodcock most qualified for Maple Valley City Council | Letter

We are very fortunate here in the City of Maple Valley to have two fine candidates running for City Council Position No. 1, Bill Woodcock and Sean P. Kelly.

I have had the privilege of knowing both of them for several years and can vouch for their integrity and commitment to our community.  However, there is one that stands out and is much more qualified for the position.

Bill Woodcock gets my vote in this election because the depth and variety of his experience far exceeds Sean’s.  Bill has proven himself as a leader in many organizations here in Maple Valley over the years, including recent stints as President of Maple Valley Rotary and also as President of the Greater Maple Valley Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce.

He also is a past member of the city’s Planning Commission and of the city’s Legacy Site Citizens Advisory Committee.  He also has been involved with many other community activities and organizations such as Make A Difference Day and youth sports groups.

One very obvious area where Bill has a huge advantage  over his opponent is that he has owned and operated a small business here in Maple Valley and understands what it really means “to operate like a business”, having been responsible for one himself.  Bill also has been responsible for a long and impressive list of community projects that he personally spearheaded, which demonstrates his proven ability to “get things done.”  These two attributes are sorely needed on our City Council and Bill is the best choice to address this problem.

As implied above, I have a lot of respect for both of the candidates for this position and appreciate the contributions each has made to our community.

But I believe that there is one clear choice that is best to help to move our city forward and to keep Maple Valley a great place to live.

Please vote to elect Bill Woodcock.
