Emerald Downs has announced plans to offer a limited number of quarter horse races at its 82-day race meeting that runs April 15 to Sept. 25.

Emerald Downs hopes to card approximately three quarter horse races a week, and will undergo necessary changes to its timing system to accommodate quarter horse racing. Purses and conditions will be similar to the ones offered for overnight purses at Portland Meadows’ 2010-11 meeting.

Interested parties are urged to contact the Emerald Downs racing office 253-288-7755 for stall applications and labor and industries costs.

Emerald Downs offered its first-ever quarter horse race last year, the $12,400 Muckleshoot Tribal Dash at 350 yards won by Oregon-bred Snip N Dale in 17.30 seconds.
