Tahoma wins 4A regional tournament | Wrestling

The Tahoma boys wrestling team won the 4A regional tournament today in Shelton.

The Bears won with a team score of 229, followed by South Kitsap at 146. Kentwood came in third with 99, Auburn 98, Kentlake 80, Kentridge 74.

Steven Hopkins (119), Dan Haniger (135) and Jesse Vaughn (125), all juniors, added regional crowns after winning their respective weight classes at the sub-district tournament last weekend.

Tahoma will take 11 wrestlers to the state championship tournament at the Tacoma Dome Friday and Saturday.

The Bears are headed to Mat Classic XXIII next weekend.
