The long-awaited return of motocross to the Puget Sound region will happen in early August as Pacific Raceways is set to re-open its track.
The Kent facility will offer open practice sessions beginning Friday, Aug. 10.
The track will open at noon with practice until dusk.
“We are excited to get the new track underway,” said Lance Smail, motocross manager and veteran racer. “This will be a great practice track for riders in the region. As we continue to make improvements throughout the year, we are looking at putting together a solid race schedule for 2013.”
The track is expected to operate a regular schedule through October, said Smail.
Dates for the rest of the year will be weather-dependent.
Riders will be grouped into five classes: pros and intermediates; juniors; beginners; veteran riders and women; and 65cc/85cc.
In addition to the motocross track, Smail said there will be a kid’s track for 50cc, 65cc and 80cc beginners. There will be a $30 fee for racers and spectators or crew will be charged $5.
Call Pacific Raceways at (253) 639-5927 for additional information.Smail said he will also be offering a riding school at the track.
Dates in August include Saturday the 11 and 25.
