Kentlake had a 21-14 lead late in the third quarter but Kent-Meridian shocked the defending South Puget Sound League North champion Friday night by responding with 14 unanswered points late in the game to take the 28-21 victory.

The Royals and the Falcons were tied at halftime before Caleb Mathena broke it up when he took a turnover and ran it back for a touchdown late in the third quarter to put Kentlake up 21-14. It was the last time Kentlake had the lead.

Turnovers were Kentlake's undoing as it gave up the ball on the Kent-Meridian one-yard-line as well as interceptions.

Kentlake drops to 1-1 in league play while Kent-Meridian improves to 1-1.
