Multiple Hall of Fame rider Russell Baze will be entering the starting gate for the 50,000th time in his career when he rides the first six races at Golden Gate Fields on Jan. 24.

He is the first American jockey to reach that highwater mark. Fellow Hall of Famer Laffit Pincay, Jr., started in 48,486 races and Perry Ouzts has ridden in 45,158 races.

Baze is also the leading rider in winning percentage, with 24 percent victories and 56 percent of mounts hitting the board.
