Kentwood’s McGuire national player of the year

Kentwood’s Reese McGuire was named USA Baseball’s 2012 Athlete of the Year Feb. 1.

McGuire, a senior, played on the 2012 world champion 18U National Team in the fall. In the gold medal game McGuire went 2-for-3 with a pair of key RBIs.

For his exceptional performance with the 18U National Team, McGuire was honored with the Richard W. ‘Dick’ Case Award, which annually recognizes USA Baseball’s top player.

McGuire was a catalyst for the 18U National Team at the IBAF AAA/18U World Championships in Seoul, South Korea.
