Kentlake gymnasts finish fifth at districts

The Kentlake gymnastics team finished fifth at the Class 4A districts meet on Feb. 9 at Mount Rainier.

The Falcons scored 163.775 as a team, behind Puyallup. Emerald Ridge finished first with 176.375 and Jefferson took home second with 169.7. Both Emerald Ridge and Jefferson will advance to the state meet.

Ashely Pernell of Kentlake finished fourth in the all-around competition with a score of 36.5. Pernell finished second on vault with a score of 9.275, CaroLyne Schmidt of Emerald Ridge won the event with a score of 9.725. Pernell finished third on the bars, scoring 8.925, and fifth on beam with a 9.1.
