Shepherd hat trick leads Woodinville past Tahoma in boys lacrosse opener

Tanner Shepherd scored a hat trick as Woodinville hung on to down Tahoma 7-6, Friday to open the 2013 Washington boys lacrosse season at Woodinville High School.
The Falcons jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first and added two more in the second to take a 6-2 lead into the intermission.
In the second half Tahoma began whittling away at Woodinville’s lead scoring a goal in the third to make it 6-3 heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth, Tahoma continued to work its way back with Trevor Larsen scoring his first of the night at 11:04 to make it 6-4. Interrupted by Woodinville goal by Edward Pollon just over three and a half minutes later, Tahoma continue it comeback with a Hudson Taylor goal at 6:38 and power play goal by Blake Lucky with 27 seconds remaining to make it 7-6.
But that was all as the Falcons hung on for the win.
Woodinville (1-0-0) next faces Bellevue (1-0-0) Tuesday, March 12 in an 8 p.m. start at Bellevue High School. Tahoma (0-1-0) next faces Bainbridge (0-1-0), Tuesday, March 12 in a 7:30 p.m. start at Bainbridge Stadium.
